Otherwise known as Rimonabant, Accomplia is a dual action prescription targeted toward the cessation of smoking and weight loss. It works on the addictive receptors in the brain, and at one time, there were actually quite a few big pharmaceutical companies trying to create similar products. It is the first of its class, and with Acomplia, they claim that it has amazing results.
Acomplia realistically speaking has not shown any real benefits. With Acomplia, the simple fact is that it was banned by every country in Europe, and moreover, the fact is that it was never actually approved by the American FDA. Sanofi Aventis has actually stopped producing Acomplia. They were actually accused of trying to cover up negative study results including serious side effects such as suicide.
The simple fact is that Acomplia is a scary product. It wasn’t just one or two suicides, one or two deaths. There were multiple deaths and suicides associated with Acomplia! Sanofi Aventis was accused of a serious crime of covering up clinical studies that would have kept it off the market. The American FDA never accepted it in the first place, and frankly while clinical studies were quite successful in terms of helping people to stop smoking, it never really promoted serious weight loss. that was an on the label benefit that never actually came through. This being said, it never should have been introduced to any market, and interestingly enough, other companies stopped production on their prototypes before this product pulled its sales, even though this product was the only one actually showing a record of deaths and problems.

Acomplia was supposed to be the miracle diet pill that would also help me to stop smoking. I just ended up more depressed and it made everything harder. I didn't lose any weight.

Acomplia isn't worth it. I heard about them trying to bring it back under a different name. Watch out for it!

I lost an entirity of about 5 pounds when using Acomplia, and it didn't make it any easier to stop smoking. I didn't really suffer any side effects on the good side. But I've heard about other people having problems

I used Acomplia a few years ago when I was living in the UK. I am still suffering depressive problems from it, and it didn't help me to lose any weight.
