Acai. Green Tea. African Mango.
They are the world’s best fat burners and will supposedly boost your metabolism, lower your cholesterol, and improve your heart health.
Or will they?
Don’t let fancy packaging and celebrity endorsement fool you into thinking that these popular foods are the ultimate solution to weight loss. We’ve done the research and are here to show you just how effective these three “fat burners” really are.
The Acai berry
Fiction: Acai will help you lose 10-20 lbs in less than 2 weeks and Oprah endorses this product.
Fact: This Brazilian berry may be rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, but it is NOT a proven fat burner. As much as we’d like to say that the fat will simply melt away if you drink Acai juice or swallow acai supplements, the only thing you’ll lose is your money.
The acai is in fact a healthy source of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and other beneficial components that can boost your metabolism and reduce hunger (to an extent), but sadly the studies don’t live up to the hype.
Also, many companies falsely assume that Oprah endorses this product and posted her picture as a selling point on this site – However, Oprah has never endorsed a specific acai product and these companies faked the endorsements without her permission.
Fiction: It’s been used for over 5,000 years, can help you lose weight fast, and contains more antioxidants than Black tea.
Fact: 5,000 is a nice round number, but despite its appeal to being a “time-tested” ingredient, Green Tea hasn’t been used for more than 2,000 years, and its health benefits simply can’t live up to the hype consumers have created about this product.
Green Tea contains a good selection of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and even trace amounts of caffeine. Studies have shown that Green Tea may be able to increase your metabolism by about 4%, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be dropping that dress size any time soon.
Green Tea is a fat burner, but it isn’t strong enough to help you lose a great deal of weight without a proper diet and regular exercise.
Fiction: African Mango can suppress your appetite, boost your metabolism, and even lower your cholesterol and BMI.
Fact: African Mango has been dubbed the King of Fruit in the public’s eye, but scientifically speaking, African Mango is just another fruit. Although African Mango does contain high concentrations of fiber (which is definitely good for you), this so-called “superfruit” simply can’t live up to the hype.
Studies on African Mango shows that this fruit has promise when it comes to helping consumers stay healthy and lose weight, but more often than not, these studies are not in a controlled environment and many have been fabricated to simply sell a product.
Despite the fact that they’re often deemed as the world’s best fat-burning ingredients, no amount of celebrity endorsement and fancy packaging can compensate for the fact that acai, green tea, and African mango are nothing more than healthy foods. They contain a good selection of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants as well as a number of other healthy components, but in the end, your weight loss depends entirely on your lifestyle rather than a “miracle in a bottle” solution.
