Hollywood Diet
Introduced in 1997, the Hollywood diet is said to be a "spa in a bottle." Its marketing tactics are based on the word and said results of celebrities. The distributors claim it will detoxify your body to give you a healthy start.
The Good: The Hollywood Diet advertises the possibility to "lose up to 5 pounds in 24 hours and up to 10 pounds in 48 hours. They start you out drinking only their juice until you have "detoxified" your body. Then they give you a meal plan and a " Hollywood mega miracle 75 multivitamin to continue your weight loss.
The Bad: Unfortunately this diet is based mostly on starvation rather than effective ingredients. The juice contains Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, pantothenic acid, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin B6. Don't get me wrong, these are nice ingredients for a multivitamin. But the Hollywood diet claims to detoxify your body with the juice. There is not a single detoxifying ingredient in the entire mix. Each bottle costs about $11, which seems pretty affordable, until you consider the fact that one bottle isn't going to last you more than oh…one meal! The cost then starts building up.
The Skinny: So is the Hollywood diet effective? Maybe for a while, until your body goes into starvation mode. Is it safe and effective in the long term? That would be a resounding no. Is it affordable? Another resounding no. If you want to lose weight for a few days by starving yourself, there are cheaper ways to do it, like buying crystal light and drinking nothing but that for a few days. But if you are serious about dieting, I would suggest going elsewhere.
